Horsehair pottery originated from the practice of honoring fallen war horses by incorporating their hair into pottery. Native American's believed that the spirit of the horse remained. The horsehair is applied at the second firing and leaves its carbon imprint as part of the piece. This piece is five and three quarters inches high and four and one half inches wide. Piece is made in our studios near Hodgenville, Kentucky. Each piece is fired twice and has the name of the master pottery on the base. "The Hairy Potter". |
