This platter has a hint of Spanish Moss, giving it a distinctively different finish.

Horsehair pottery originated from the practice of honoring fallen war horses by incorporating their hair into pottery. Native American's believed that the spirit of the horse remained. On the second firing, the piece is washed in a iron based solution and Spanish Moss and then fired to 1100 degrees.

The horsehair is applied at the third firing and leaves its carbon imprint as part of the piece.   

This piece is an one and one half inches tall and  twelve inches wide.

Each piece is signed by the artist before firing.
