Horsehair pottery originated from the practice of honoring fallen war horses by incorporating their hair into pottery. Native American's believed that the spirit of the horse remained. The horsehair is applied at the second firing and leaves its carbon imprint as part of the piece. This piece is two and one half inches high and four and three quarters inches wide. The piece is fired twice and has the name of the master potter on the base. |
