Wheel thrown in our Annie's Art Farm studio near Hodgenville, KY (birthplace of President Lincoln, btw) John creates a unique piece each time he deals with his favorite medium of clay. John (aka "The Hairy Potter") has been doing this for over 30 years, and is very deliberate in doing it right, or it gets trashed and started over. Once he is satisfied, he dries it "leather hard", then it is fired the first time, after cooling, the pot goes back to a flame driven kiln, fired again, then horsehair (could be your favorite horse's hair, if you ask) is applied and the carbon imprint deep into the piece. John adds a thin gold wire to dress the piece. He washes the piece, polishing it then applying a protective glaze.
